For weeks, there have been rumors that the Green Bay Packers were shopping one of their wide receivers. These rumblings stated that other NFL teams had called Green Bay about either Jayden Reed or Dontayvion Wicks. However, they also claimed that the Packers had rebuffed any offers regarding Reed.
That being said, the rumors did not say the same about Wicks. Indeed, it has long been assumed that the Packers would be willing to part with the 2023 fifth round draft pick if they got the right deal.
And they have.
The Green Bay Packers have traded Dontayvion Wicks to the Philadelphia Eagles
According to Adam Schefter, the famed NFL insider at ESPN, Green Bay has traded Wicks to the Philadelphia Eagles:
ESPN sources: the Green Bay Packers are trading wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick.

In return, the Packers are receiving a fifth round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and a sixth round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. Additionally, the Eagles are giving Wicks a one-year $12.5 million contract extension. He will play out the final year of his contract with Philadelphia this season and then remain with them in 2027 before hitting free agency.
In three years with Green Bay, Wicks caught 108 passes for 1,323 yards and 11 touchdowns. Last year, he saw his fewest targets as a Packer and caught 30 passes for 332 yards and two touchdowns. That being said, he also had a 4.3% drop percentage, a vast improvement from the 11.2% drop percentage he had in 2024.
With Wicks now in Philadelphia, the door is open for 2025 first round pick Matthew Golden to have even more opportunities on offense. While that is a positive development, it will not be surprising if the Packers take another wide receiver at any point in this year’s draft.
