Felix Auger-Aliassime enjoyed a resurgent end to the 2025 season, rising to world number five after some impressive results.
The Canadian reached the US Open semi-finals, won his third title of the year in Brussels and reached the latter stages of the Paris Masters and ATP Finals.
Auger-Aliassime looks to be one of the few likely challengers to Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner’s dominance as he searches for a first Grand Slam title in 2026.

Greg Rusedski weighs in on Felix Auger-Aliassime’s 2026 season
Greg Rusedski, the former world number four, has offered his thoughts on Auger-Aliassime’s end to the 2025 season and whether the Canadian can usurp Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in 2026.
“Felix Auger-Aliassime, what a great finish to 2025. Indoors, from the US Open onwards, he was absolutely brilliant, ending in Turin,” Rusedski said on the ‘Off Court with Greg‘ podcast.

“Great consistency, he’s finally healthy, Freddy Fontang is the coach, great team of people around him, personal life is good. This is one of the guys we’ve been talking about for years.
“He broke into the top 10, top five in the world, then all of a sudden, he had a really bad year, but broke back into where he belongs in 2025. Can he push through and push forward in 2026?
“He’s got the physicality, sometimes he needs to be a little bit more flexible of mind, but as an athlete he is brilliant. He’s strengthened up the backhand side.
“Can he do it in 2026? That is the big question… Does he feel he belongs with Sinner and Alcaraz? When he got to the Paris Masters finals, he said saying ‘I remember playing video games with Jannik Sinner, I’m not that far away’, he’s getting within reach.”

“How has the off-season been? Is he a better player? Is he ready to step up Down Under, get to the semifinals, and possibly cause an upset? Could he beat Alcaraz? Possibly. Can he beat Sinner? I don’t see anybody beating him Down Under, but I think he’s one to look out for in 2026.”
Auger-Aliassime has been competing at the United Cup ahead of the Australian. He ended a five-year drought in his first match, before losing to Zizou Bergs on Tuesday morning.
After the loss, Auger-Aliassime explained why he will not be participating in Canada’s first Davis Cup match of 2026.
