Gus Atkinson’s Test debut brings 5 West Indies wickets

The West Indies men’s cricket team is on a tour to England for a series of 3 test matches. The three red ball matches will be held on 10, 18 and 26 of July. The first match will be held on 10 July at the iconic Lord’s ground, London. In the first red-ball match, Gus Atkinson’s debut brings 5 West Indies wickets.

The first Test match between England and West Indies has started at Lord’s. The hosts won the toss, opting to bowl first. Currently, the England team has a winning probability of 86% against the West Indies. West Indies scored 121 runs in 41.4 overs, losing all their wickets.

Gus Atkinson takes 5 wickets in his test debut

Gus Atkinson is having a stellar Test debut against the West Indies. The London-born pacer delivered an outstanding performance, taking a five-wicket haul in his first Test match.

Atkinson took the wicket of Alick Athanaze and then claimed the wicket of Jason Holder for a duck. Two balls later, the right-arm pacer showed off his skills and dismissed Joshua Da Silva for a two-ball duck. These wickets successfully swung the momentum in England’s favor.

Gus Atkinson took 3 wickets in just 4 bowls, conceding no runs. Kirk McKenzie and West Indies Captain Kraigg Brathwaite also lost their wickets to Atkinson’s relentless bowling.

England trails by 91 runs

As West Indies scored merely 121 runs, losing all their wickets in 41.4 overs, England started off confident. Ben Duckett and Zack Crawley mustered up a score of 30/1 in 7.4 overs.

Ben Duckett lost his wicket and got dismissed on a catch by Joshua Da Silva on Jayden Seales’ bowl. He only scored 3 runs in 13 bowls before getting dismissed.
