It is the countdown for the Global Super League, and the games begin with some real sparks on opening day on November 26. The runner-ups of the CPL 2024 Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) will take on Lahore Qalandars. The five contestants will represent the best of T20 teams across the world. All these hil from Guyana, Pakistan, Bangladesh, England, and Australia competing through a round-robin format. The top two will go to the final.
GAW are an important part of the Global Super League. Apart from them, the T20 competition will also feature Hampshire Hawks (T20 Blast), Rangpur Riders (BPL), and Victoria (Australia state team). The teams are set to play all their matches at Providence, Guyana, which is hosting all 11 games of the tournament.

This, of course, is touted as an opportunity to elevate Guyana as a global sporting destination with full support from the government. The tournament will be an annual affair with rotating teams to bring international exposure to club sides. GAW will be playing in the Global Super League, and with everyone else, a tournament full of competition will be won for a $1 million pool.
However, GAW might lose some of its players. Shamar Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, and Kevin Sinclair are the names who might miss out as the West Indies’ Test series against Bangladesh falls between November 22 to December 4. The Lahore Qalandars will also miss captain Shaheen Afridi since Pakistan have scheduled their visit to South Africa immediately after the conclusion of the league.
The Global Super League promises high-octane T20 action for 12 days, with the final scheduled to take place on December 7. For fans, of course, there are multiple clashes of titans to be excited about. Perhaps, this league will be seen as just one step forward in the march towards global competitions, in keeping with the wider vision of international club tournaments in the not-too-distant future.
