Hamburg set budget for Arsenal loanee Fabio Vieira – a contract has already been agreed with the 25-year-old

Bild reports that Hamburg have set their budget for what it will take to sign Arsenal loanee Fabio Vieira permanently in the summer.

Since moving from North London to northern Germany in the summer, Vieira has been one of Hamburg’s best players in their maiden season back in the Bundesliga, and now HSV want to try to sign him permanently.

The attacking midfielder has already agreed a contract with the club, in the case that he does join permanently. However, the Bundesliga side must now reach an agreement with Arsenal.

In the loan agreement, there is a €20m buy option, but it is way too much for HSV, so they will look to try and renegotiate the deal, and have set their budget at a high single million digit fee. Hamburg’s current record transfer was for Filip Kostic in 2016 when he joined from Stuttgart for €14m.

Vieira’s season at HSV:

The 25-year-old has played 21 times for Hamburg this season, scoring five and assisting four, including a great chip against 1.FC Köln at the weekend. This makes Vieira one of HSV’s joint top scorers this season alongside Ransford Königsdörffer, Rayan Philippe and fellow loanee Luka Vuskovic.
