Having completed a total of 85 laps on Thursday, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton disclosed what made his second day in Ferrari’s SF‑26 slightly difficult.
Lewis Hamilton continued his early adaptation to Ferrari machinery on Thursday as he completed his second day of running in the 2026 SF‑26 at the Barcelona‑Catalunya circuit.
After a weather‑disrupted opening day, the seven‑time World Champion finally enjoyed consistent dry conditions that allowed him to push deeper into the programme and gather meaningful data.
Speaking to F1 TV after stepping out of the car, Hamilton made it clear how valuable the improved weather had been for both his confidence and the team’s understanding of the new package.
“It was nice to get out in the dry and do some running, because obviously our first day was in the miserable wet weather,” he said.
“So, it was great to be able to get some running and understand the tyres. We did the C2 and the C1, [it was] so cold that the tyres are not really working so much. But got through our programme and a bit of an understanding of where the car is at and where we need to improve.”
The day’s focus centred on tyre behaviour, long‑run consistency, and early balance exploration—key areas given the sweeping regulation changes arriving in 2026.
Although the low temperatures limited tyre performance, Hamilton and Ferrari still managed to complete their planned workload, gathering baseline data that will shape the next steps in development. The seven-time world champion will return to the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit on Friday.
