Hamilton fails to keep promise, F1 showcase new-generation cars

With the post-season reaction continuing, let’s take a look at the round-up of Formula 1 activities on GPBlog’s F1 Today.

Lewis Hamilton’s promise of a quiet, disconnected winter break did not last long, as the seven-time world champion resurfaced on social media with his phone in hand.

The Briton, who had promised to bin his phone after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, was spotted at a Lululemon store – the clothing brand he represents as an ambassador – promoting a new collection titled “The Lewis Hamilton Edit.”

Hamilton modelled several pieces from the line himself, using his phone to take selfies and showcase the range to his followers.

The seven-time world champion had a rollercoaster debut season with Ferrari, failing to record a podium finish throughout the campaign.

F1 also released new renditions of the cars for the 2026 season. The cars feature radical changes, moving away from the Venturi tunnel concept that has defined the past four years and placing the power units firmly back at the centre, while active aerodynamics make a return to compensate for the removal of DRS.

Power units will undergo a fundamental transformation, with an even 50/50 split between internal combustion and electric power. The hybrid system will be simplified through the removal of the MGU-H, while the MGU-K will deliver a major boost in output, increasing from 120 kW to 350 kW to enhance overtaking potential and straight-line performance.
