Hamilton’s mother snubs the ‘kids’ on her way home from the Chinese GP

Lewis Hamilton’s mother, Carmen Larbalestier, decided against flying home with F1 drivers and Toto Wolff after the Chinese Grand Prix, David Coulthard revealed.

She said, ‘Well actually, I could have flown back with some of the drivers, but I’ve had enough of the kids.’

After seeing his son achieve his first Grand Prix podium in Ferrari colours, Hamilton’s mother decided to fly home alone.

In the Up To Speed podcast, Coulthard revealed why that was the case. He said: “Hamilton’s mom was on the flight back. I was talking to her this morning coming off the plane.

“I was asking have you got far to go? All that kind of usual stuff. And she said, ‘Well actually, I could have flown back with some of the drivers, but I’ve had enough of the kids.’

“So I thought that was great, She’d been like two or three weeks traveling with Lewis around, and although he is 41, he’s forever going to be your kid. So she’s now back into a bit of peace and quiet.”

Valtteri Bottas also shared an Instagram post about the flight home with Hamilton, Wolff, and George Russell aboard the Mercedes team boss’s private jet.

The seven-time world champion believes a first victory is now closer after achieving his first podium in Shanghai last weekend.

The Briton explained: “I definitely feel that I could say that it’s more in sight than ever before.”
