Harbhajan Singh’s Strong Opinion on India’s Test Match Strategy

Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has voiced caution ahead of India’s Test series against Bangladesh, emphasizing that smaller teams can sometimes deliver strong performances. Speaking at a Legends League Cricket event in Delhi on Thursday, Harbhajan acknowledged Bangladesh’s potential, highlighting their recent victory over Pakistan in a Test match. He also extended his congratulations to Jay Shah on his unopposed election as the new chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), underscoring the significance of this achievement for Indian cricket.

Harbhajan Singh’s Caution Against Underestimating Bangladesh

Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has expressed his views on the upcoming Test series between India and Bangladesh, emphasizing the need to avoid underestimating the Bangladeshi team. Speaking at a Legends League Cricket (LLC) event in Delhi, Harbhajan highlighted that smaller teams can often surprise stronger opponents with their performances. He pointed out Bangladesh’s recent victory against Pakistan in a Test match as an example, cautioning that the Indian team should be prepared for a challenging series.

The two-match Test series, scheduled from September 19 to October 1, will be crucial for India’s preparation ahead of the Border Gavaskar Trophy later this year. Bangladesh’s spin attack, featuring players like Shakib Al Hasan, Taijul Islam, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, could pose a significant challenge to India’s batsmen. Harbhajan’s comments reflect the unpredictable nature of cricket, where even so-called “smaller teams” can outperform expectations.

Jay Shah’s Appointment as ICC Chairman

Harbhajan Singh also took the opportunity to congratulate Jay Shah on his appointment as the new Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Describing it as a significant achievement, Harbhajan emphasized the importance of having an Indian representative in such a prestigious position. He expressed confidence that Shah would continue to promote cricket globally, much like he has done for Indian cricket during his tenure as BCCI Secretary and Chairman of the Asia Cricket Council.
