India Women started their campaign on a high note, securing a dominant victory with an outstanding all-round performance. Following a commanding win against Pakistan Women, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur shared her thoughts on the match and their triumph. She highlighted the team’s exceptional performance, expressing pride in their comprehensive victory. Harmanpreet emphasized the cohesive effort from both the bowlers and batters, which led to their dominant display on the field. India captain Harmanpreet Kaur said,” Our bowlers and openers made it. First game is always a pressure game but we managed it well. Our entire unit played really well. When we are bowling we talk about early breakthroughs and in batting, we look to start well so credit to Smriti and Shafali. Playing fearless cricket, how we played today and we are really happy with the way we played. My knee is fine.”

India’s Performance Against Pakistan:

While bowling first, Indian bowlers dismantled Pakistan’s batting lineup, restricting them to just 108 runs. Renuka Singh delivered an impressive spell, taking 2 wickets for 14 runs. Pooja Vastrakar contributed with 2 wickets for 31 runs in 4 overs. Deepti Sharma excelled, claiming 3 wickets for 20 runs in her 4 overs at an economy of 5. Shreyanka Patil wrapped up the innings with 2 wickets for 14 runs, maintaining an economy rate of 4.2.

India Women successfully chased down the modest target of 108 runs, clinching the victory by 7 wickets. Shafali Verma played a crucial innings, scoring 40 runs off 29 balls, with six boundaries and one six, achieving a strike rate of 137.93. Smriti Mandhana anchored the chase with a solid 45 runs from 31 deliveries, including nine fours, maintaining an impressive strike rate of 145.16. Dayalan Hemalatha contributed with 14 runs off 11 balls, hitting three boundaries at a strike rate of 127.27. Their collective efforts ensured a comfortable win for India Women.
