Harry Brook of England was lauded as a batting sensation by Nasser Hussain after the batter created history by scoring a triple hundred against Pakistan on Day 4 of the Multan Test. Brook, who began the day with an impressive inning of 142 runs, was unstoppable against Pakistan as he made another record for himself by being the second fastest ever to complete a triple century in the annals of Test history.
Having completed the milestone in a blistering speed of 310 deliveries, Brook’s innings would be left at the score of 317. The total runs scored in the first innings would be the fourth highest in Test cricket as England would post 823 runs in that inning. While discussing the match on Sky Sports, Hussain noted that, for instance, hitting a run a ball triple hundred is something one can only imagine.
In the previous quoted lines, Hussain further asserted: “You get a run-a-ball fifty maybe in Test cricket, but a triple-hundred at virtually a run a ball is unheard of! It was a phenomenal knock. I saw a tweet actually and I quite agree with it: Harry Brook has the shots of Kevin Pietersen and the rhythm and hunger of Joe Root.”
Of course, if you are to name the top five players near the peak of England’s history, both Root and Pietersen will surely be amongst that group. He has the ‘flamingo’ shot he plays like Pietersen, coupled with the Yorkshire grit of Root, and the pace he plays at.”
While answering a question on Brook himself, Hussain remembered about five years back when Root had spoken about Brook and revealed that the 25 year old was one to look forward to. According to Hussain, Brooks must have grown up idolizing roots on the pitch and now is in the same England team as him smashing records.
“Every now and then, someone impresses you with their extraordinary abilities, and I can recall exactly that moment about five years back when I was at The Oval and on the verge of heading to Headingley for a [T20] Blast game, Joe turned around to me and said, ‘The one I think you should be watching is Harry Brook’. It’s easy to understand why Brook must have captivated him. His strokes are simply a joy to behold. Most likely, Brook has grown up witnessing Root in action and now records are being set along with him,” Hussain added.
England is just 4 wickets away from winning the Multan Test Match as Pakistan are now under pressure at 152 for 6 wickets in the second innings chasing a target of 267 runs.
