Former French defender Ronald Zubar has heaped praise on Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, lauding his fighting spirit, leadership qualities, and resilience in the face of adversity.
Speaking in an interview with Nigerian sports journalist Taye Taiwo, Zubar highlighted Osimhen’s performances at the recent Africa Cup of Nations as evidence of the striker’s world-class mentality.
“I watched the Africa Cup of Nations, and I like Osimhen, the Nigerian striker,” Zubar said.
“I like his fighting spirit, the winning mentality he has in him and how he tries to bring every member of his team with him.”
The former Marseille defender also pointed to Osimhen’s ability to silence critics who had written him off following his move to Turkey.
“Even when he went to Turkey, people said his career was over, but he is still showing that he is among the best strikers in the world.”
Zubar’s comments came during a broader discussion about the strength of African national teams, where he declared that Nigeria currently possesses the best players on the continent based on performances in Europe’s top leagues.
For Osimhen, the endorsement from the former French defender adds to the growing recognition that the Nigerian striker belongs among football’s elite.
