Kamran Akmal, a former cricketer of Pakistan, has given his views about his relationship with Gautam Gambhir, a former cricketer of India and currently the head coach, blaming him as being like a brother. It is pointed out that both were involved in a lot of arguments in their careers, and the pair had several heated encounters as they lost their tempers on the field.
The most entertaining face-off between the two occurred in the year 2010 during the Asia Cup comprising the India Pakistan match. The two walked up to one another and were almost at logger heads physically, Umpires had to step in and control the situation. Recently, Akmal talked about his bonding with two of the great Indian cricketers MS Dhoni, and Gambhir.
With regards to Dhoni, Akmal brushed aside all such comparisons saying, he is knit different from others in her category, and also in due course explained how he will speak to the latter about wicket keeping and batting.
“No doubt MS Dhoni is someone with a different mentality altogether, an absolute match-winner and he’s super calm. The way he played was fantastic, and had a fantastic career. We talked a lot about how to keep wickets, how to bat and ya, it was often nice talking to Dhoni,” Akmal was cited as saying by Cricblog.
Further speaking ahead, Akmal revealed that he has an amicable relationship with Gambhir and added that he is on good terms with the former Indian batsman.
“We share a good bond and we are good friends. Even with Gautam Gambhir too. I mean me and Gautam are good friends too. I have a healthy relationship with him. He is my brother,” he added.
In one of his interviews, Gambhir had made a strong statement referring to Akmal as the most talkative wicketkeeper ever. The ex India opener was known for his banter with the opposite team as he even got into a physical scuffle with Shahid Afridi, during an ODI in 2007.
Gautam Gambhir is applauded and hailed across the globe for many of his knocks but one knock that stands out for everyone is during the final of the T20 World Cup 2007 against Pakistan where he scored the most runs for India in the match with 75 (54). With the assistance of his innings, India managed to score a total of 157 runs for the loss of five wickets and won the match with a margin of 5 runs.
