Head Becomes First South Australian to Lead Australia in T20Is

After a thrilling win in the first T20 match, England and Australia are set to face each other in the second T20 game. Before stepping into the match, Australia’s lineup got shuffled a bit. Due to Marsh’s illness, Head will lead the team in this game. He becomes the first South Australian to captain Australia in T20Is.

Head to Lead the Team:

After sweeping Scotland in a three-match T20 series, Australia is facing England in a three-match T20 series. The series started in a great way for the Australian side as they triumphed over their arch-rivals with an impressive victory. Travis Head played a crucial role in securing the thrilling win. 

As the team steps into the second match of the series, Head is set to lead the team from the front in Mitchell Marsh’s absence. Travis Head has made history as the first South Australian to captain Australia in T20 Internationals. Initially, he was set to play as a specialist.

However, with Mitchell Marsh ill, Head stepped up as captain for the second T20I against England. He becomes the 13th Australian T20I captain and the first from South Australia. In the toss time, he said, “Mitch is slightly unwell, so this change.”

Again Fiery Start from Australia:

After winning the toss, England skipper Phil Salt opted to bowl first. While batting first, Australia had a fiery start again. While opening the innings with Matthew Short, Australian captain Travis Head attacked the English bowlers initially. He played a knock of 31 runs in 14 balls along with 4 boundaries and 2 over-boundaries. 

Standing on a crucial point, Bryndon Carse secured the first wicket for his team by dismissing Head. After this setback, youngster Jake Fraser-McGurk joined Short on the creaze. Short is standing on 19 runs in 15 balls and McGurk scored 13 runs in 5 balls. In the 6th over, Australia is on 65/1.
