The stage is set for a thrilling battle as the 2026 Western Region Schools Rugby 15s pools take center stage at Chavakali High School in Vihiga County from March 18 to 21, with top sides eyeing qualification to the national games slated for Maseno in April.
The four-day tournament brings together a mix of established giants and emerging forces, all chasing a coveted slot from one of the most competitive regions in school rugby.

Pool A headlines the competition with a clash of proven pedigree. National champions and reigning Western Region champions Vihiga High School will be out to defend their crown on home soil after dominating Vihiga County.
They face stiff competition from Bungoma High School, who arrive as Bungoma County champions, alongside former national champions St Peter’s Mumias, last year’s finalists, and St Paul’s Amukura.
EDITOR’S PICKS:
The pool is widely viewed as the “group of death,” with each side boasting a rich rugby history and the ability to upset the other on any given day. Vihiga will bank on home support, while St Peter’s will be keen to go one step further after falling short in last year’s final.
Pool B is equally compelling, featuring record national champions Kakamega School, who will be looking to reassert their dominance. They are joined by Vihiga County runners-up Senende Boys, former national champions Butula Boys, and newcomers Bokoli Boys, who will be eager to make a statement in their debut appearance at this level.
