Malcolm Marshall was an incredible pacer



With a total of 376 wickets in 81 Test matches, the West Indian is one of the finest pacers to ever play the longest format of the game

1. 7/22 vs England, Manchester, 1988

After taking 2 wickets in the first innings, Marshall went on absolute rampage in the second. His fantastic 7-wicket haul massively helped the Windies in bowling out England for only 93 runs. The visitors would go on to win the match comprehensively by an innings and 156 runs.

2. 7/53 vs England, Headingley, 1984

Marshall again proved to be crucial for the Windies against England as his 7-wicket haul helped the visitors in bowling out the Three Lions for only 159 runs, setting up a modest target of 128 for West Indies to achieve. They easily did so and went on to win the match by 8 wickets.

3. 7/80 vs New Zealand, Barbados, 1985

Marshall was outstanding for the hosts throughout the Test match as he took 4 wickets in the first innings to help West Indies bowl out New Zealand for only 94 runs. The Windies would go on to score 336 runs in their first innings thanks to a ton by Sir Vivian Richards. In the second innings, Marshall outdid himself and went on to take a 7-wicket haul as the hosts bowled out the Black Caps for 248 runs. West Indies only had a 7-run target to achieve and they easily went on to win the match by 10 wickets.

4. 6/32 vs England, Lord’s, 1988

Another Test match where Marshall dominated England, this time by taking 4 wickets in the first innings and taking 6 in the second. Thanks to great knocks from Gordon Greenidge (103) and Gus Logie (95), West Indies set up a massive target of 442 for England to achieve. Thanks to Marshall’s brilliant 6-wicket haul, the visitors bowled out the hosts for 307 and won the match comfortably by 134 runs.

5. 6/37 vs India, Kolkata, 1983

Marshall took 3 wickets in the first innings as West Indies bowled out India for 241 runs. Thanks to an unbeaten knock of 161 runs by skipper Clive Lloyd, the visitors would go on to post a total of 377 in their first innings and took a lead of 136 runs. The Indian batting order would get dismantled by Marshall in the second innings as his 6-wicket haul helped the visitors in bowling out the hosts for only 90 runs. The Windies would win the match by an innings and 46 runs.
