The Indian Women team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, mad a great comeback following their loss in the opening game of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 against New Zealand at Dubai. Following their loss, the Women In Blue defeated historic-rival Pakistan by six wickets and celebrated their maiden victory in the tournament. Following that, they created history as they beat Sri Lanka with the biggest margin in history of Women’s T20 World Cup.
Indian women will surely aim to qualify for the semi-finals after they dominated against Sri Lanka. The most easy way to do so is to defeat Australia in the upcoming match, along with hoping both New Zealand and Pakistan to lose at least one of their two remaining matches. In such case, India will easily qualify to the semifinals without having to rely on the net run rate (NRR). India can also qualify for semifinals if Australia loses both of their remaining matches.
If India wins over Australia in the final league game, a triple tie with Australia, and New Zealand will be there at 6 points. Even if India wins by 1 run, it will leave New Zealand in the hunts, from where they will have to win their two remaining matches against Sri Lanka and Pakistan with a combined margin of 38 runs. Then only they could surpass the NRR of India. However, If India wins by 10 runs, the margin for New Zealand will go a high as up to 48.
