Lucknow Super Giants’ spinner Amit Mishra’s comments about star Indian batsman Virat Kohli have caused a big discussion. Mishra, who was recently on a podcast, said that because of his great fame and power, Virat has changed a lot as a person and their friendship is not the same anymore. After Mishra’s comments spread widely, people on social media took sides, with many supporting Kohli and criticizing the spinner. Recently, former Indian batsman Robin Uthappa also praised Kohli for his hard work and character.
Uthappa, who was part of the Indian team that won the 2007 T20 World Cup, said that the former captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore has grown into a more mature person.
“I’ve watched Virat grow from a bold young guy from Delhi into a mature person. It’s really impressive how much he’s changed. Now he’s enjoying the success of the hard work he put in 15 years ago. One thing that always impressed me about Virat is his strong belief in himself,” Uthappa shared on cricket.com/tv.
“When I hear a 19-year-old Virat Kohli speak about his confidence in himself, it might sound a bit over the top, like ‘What is this guy saying?’. But if you think about it 10 years later, it all starts to make sense,” he continued.
Earlier, Punjab Kings player Shashank Singh also supported Kohli and shared a story from the IPL.
“He was standing, I was standing. We stood for 40 minutes. I didn’t even realize 40 minutes had gone by. Our team’s position was 12:45. It was 12:40, and I didn’t notice the time passing. We were discussing cricket, techniques, shots, and mental strategies,” Shashank Singh said in an interview.
“And the way he answered, it seemed like, just keep going, just keep going. It felt like he was one of our players from Chhattisgarh. He was very friendly, talking to me to help me learn. It felt really good to talk to him,” he added.
