Yash Dayal’s journey in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been quite unpredictable so far. The young fast bowler from Uttar Pradesh joined the Gujarat Titans in 2023 and initially showed a lot of potential in the early matches. However, during a game against the Kolkata Knight Riders, he gave up five straight sixes in the last over, leading to a surprising loss for his team. This was a big setback for him, and he had trouble regaining his form. It was unexpected when Royal Challengers Bengaluru chose him for Rs 5 crore in the IPL 2024 auction.
Despite the challenges, Yash made a strong impact when he joined RCB. He lived up to their expectations by performing exceptionally well in the tournament, taking 15 wickets for the team.
In a recent interview, Dayal shared how star batter Virat Kohli helped him feel confident when he joined RCB. Dayal mentioned that Kohli makes the younger players on the team feel very comfortable.
“The most important thing he (Kohli) told me was that he would support me throughout the entire season. He assured me that I wouldn’t feel out of place, and he fully supported me. This really boosted my confidence, and he communicates with the younger players in a very positive way. He’s not at all like how people portray him on TV. That’s not the impression I get,” Dayal said to Sports Tak.
Jay Shah, the leader of the group that oversees cricket in India (BCCI), praised Virat Kohli for playing in important cricket games for 16 years.
Virat started playing in big cricket games for India when they played against Sri Lanka in Dambulla. This was just a short time after he led his team to win a big youth cricket tournament in Kuala Lumpur.
“16 years ago today, a young 19-year-old @imVkohli played his first game in important cricket matches, starting a career that has been amazing. Congratulations to Virat for playing in these games for 16 years!” Shah shared on ‘X’.
