Hill Running Come and Try Days

Hill Running Come and Try Days

Saturday 7th February 2026

Junior Hill Running is a growth area for our sport with some great work going on at our clubs led by volunteer coaches.

In terms of scottishathletics, Angela Mudge and Phil Mestecky have key roles and their dedication and commitment has seen a rise in participation numbers and in performance levels.

With a view to seeking to maintain that momentum, a series of introductory sessions have been set up for the end of March.

Come Try U13 Training Mornings

There will be four Come Try days across Scotland on Sunday 29 March.

These are designed for younger athletes (aged 9 to 12) who would like to try off road running:

The Borders session is on Saturday 28 March

Each morning will run from 10am to 1pm and will teach some basic hill running skills and be a fairly gentle and supportive introduction to the discipline.

Please sign up to the event you would like to attend:

Junior U18 Training Day

Older juniors (those aged 13 to 17) should head to Alva Scout Hall, at the foot of the Ochils Sunday 29 March.

We’ll train on the slopes above the village and work both on hill fitness and skills during the session.

It’s also a great way of getting to know fellow hill runners ahead of the busy season ahead.

A senior GB athlete will be on hand at our U18 Training Day to share their experience and insights.

The day will run from 10am to 3pm.
