Hilton Moreeng Appointed Head Coach of USA Women’s Cricket Team

The USA’s governing body stated that Hilton Moreeng, a former cricket player from South Africa, has been named the new coach of the national women’s and Under-19 teams.

Legendary West Indian coach Shivnarine Chanderpaul will be replaced by Moreeng, who will get the team ready for Bangladesh’s hosting of the T20 World Cup later this year.

The 46-year-old stated he wished to support the development of cricket in the United States after more than ten years as the coach of South Africa’s women’s side.

“I am eager to collaborate with both current players and emerging talent. My goal is to methodically build a competitive squad capable of rivaling the best in women’s cricket globally,” said Moreeng, who stepped down as SA coach this March.

The 46-year-old stated he wished to support the development of cricket in the United States after more than ten years as the coach of South Africa’s women’s side.

“Hilton brings a rich background and vast experience to USA Cricket having been a critical part of the transformation of South African women’s cricket. USA women are also at the beginning of a transformative period with an Olympics in four years’ time and we b believe Hilton’s successes, diverse experiences and understanding of challenges in an emerging cricket nation is well-suited for our program,” he added.
