Another five day of thrilling red ball thrills are on the way. After an exciting first Test match in Chennai, both teams headed to Kanpur to play the second Test match of the series. After a remarkable win in the first Test match, Team India is looking forward to a clean sweep. On the other hand, Bangladesh will try to level up the series. Indian captain Rohit Sharma opted to bowl first, a historic feat created in Kanpur. This is the first time teams have chosen to field first in consecutive Tests played in India.
Historic Feat at Kanpur:
After a long time, Team India came back to the longest format. After they defeat England in a five-match Test series by an impressive 4-1 margin on home soil, they are back in another home Test series. In the first Test match, Team India registered a massive 280-run victory. In the entire Test match, the home showcased exceptional dominating characters. But After opting to bowl first in the second Test match in Kanpur, Team India created a history.Â
Rohit Sharma, captain of the Indian team, won the toss and chose to field first. This marks the first instance of teams opting to field in back-to-back Tests in India. The only previous occurrence of this happened during the three-match series between India and Sri Lanka in 1997. That series ended up in a draw. Another notable point is that India chose to field first in a home Test for the first time since 2015.
Additionally, this is the first time a team has won the toss and decided to field in two consecutive men’s Tests in India. In this match, India has maintained the same playing XI. The last time India fielded an unchanged XI in two successive home Tests was against Bangladesh in Indore and Kolkata in 2019.
