BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The CARS Tour West announced the launch of the all-new Hoosier Tire West Triple Crown series, a three-race challenge that will award $20,000 in additional prize money to Pro Late Model competitors.
The special three-race series will use the same points structure as the CARS Tour West championship points, with cars required to compete in all three races to be eligible for the bonus payout. The top-10 owners in Triple Crown points will receive a share of the $20,000 purse.
The Triple Crown events will take place at three premier short tracks across the West: Evergreen Speedway (June 27), Colorado National Speedway (Aug. 1) and at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway (Oct. 17).
The champion of the Hoosier Tire West Triple Crown will earn a $7,500 bonus along with a Hoosier champion jacket, a custom trophy, Sunoco fuel and the bragging rights as the inaugural Hoosier Tire West Triple Crown champion.
“We’re really excited to be able to sponsor the CARS Tour West Triple Crown,” said Rick Gerhardt, owner of Hoosier Tire West. “Our racers are the backbone of what we do, and this is a great opportunity for us to give back and show our appreciation to all the competitors who continue to support CARS Tour West and Hoosier Tire West. We’re proud to be part of something that rewards the teams who are out there racing week in and week out.”
CARS Tour West co-owner Kevin Harvick said the three-race schedule was designed to showcase the strength of short-track racing across the western United States.
“We selected these three tracks because they represent the best of short-track racing in the West,” Harvick said. “Evergreen and Colorado National bring together competitors from different regions, and Kern Raceway made perfect sense for the finale as the Pro Late Models’ final race of the year.”
Harvick also thanked Hoosier Tire West for its support.
“We’re grateful to Hoosier Tire West for their continued support and for stepping up to help make the Triple Crown program possible,” Harvick said. “Partners like Hoosier are key to growing what we’re building.
“I’m extremely grateful to all the drivers, teams and partners who support CARS Tour West,” Harvick added. “The growth shows short-track racing in the West is alive and well, and the Triple Crown is another step forward for our racers and fans.”
