Expected later this year, they promise significant customisation options. An Official Racing Centre will also be added to facilitate group races.
Houses for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown have been briefly showcased ahead of their expected implementation later this year.
A key feature of the franchise – in particular, 2011’s Test Drive Unlimited 2 – once added to the current game, players will be able to purchase, modify and showcase online to friends.
“What I can tell you is that if you know the houses in TDU2, what we’re preparing for TDUSC is even bigger,” said Alain Jarniou, Creative Director at the title’s developer, KT Racing.
In the run-up to their addition, construction sites are being placed around the Hong Kong map. These will change into real estate once the update lands.
“[You] will obviously find the fundamentals of real estate, including real estate agencies, the possibility of visiting houses before buying them, and then to have your own house and to be able to buy several.
“It’s really cool to be able to have your own house, customise it and invite your friends into it.”
The timing of the houses is not yet known, but it is slated for Season 8. Season 6 will arrive in March, two months behind the initial January roadmap timeline.
“It’s something that has been expected by the community for a long time, but… it takes a long time to develop,” concluded Jarniou.
Official Racing Centre
Another new building will be the Official Racing Centre, a physical (virtual) embodiment of the competitive mode. Players should be able to meet here, enter groups and then race each other, before regrouping.
“There will also be a whole ranking that will be displayed in the same place,” explained Jarniou.

Store for apparel and changes to weekly and daily challenges are also expected, but details are thin on the ground presently.
Season 6’s detective missions were also shown very briefly in a work-in-progress state. They will be joined by a Pagani, Lamborghini Temerario and Pininfarina B95.

The game recently received an optimisation update, aiming to improve visual fidelity and performance on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It will be added to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers on 17th February.
