How Can RCB Finish in the Top Two of IPL 2025 Points Table? Full Scenario Explained

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have already qualified for the playoffs of IPL 2025, but they still have a chance to finish in the top two. This will give them the advantage of playing in Qualifier 1 and getting an extra opportunity to reach the final.

Here is what RCB need to do to seal a top-two finish:

RCB’s Last Match is Crucial

RCB’s final league game is against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). To finish in the top two, RCB must win this match. If they lose, they will drop out of the race for a top-two finish and will have to play the Eliminator instead.

Why Only a Win Matters

The top-two race is now down to three teams – Punjab Kings (PBKS), Mumbai Indians (MI), and RCB. GT are still in the mix, but their fate depends on the result of the RCB match.

If RCB beat LSG, they will move to 19 points and directly qualify for Qualifier 1.

If RCB lose, they will stay on 17 points and Gujarat Titans will take the second spot with 18 points.

What Happens in PBKS vs MI?

RCB’s top-two finish does not depend on the result of PBKS vs MI. The winner of that game will become the first team to qualify for Qualifier 1 with 20 points. The second spot will then be decided between RCB and GT.

So, for RCB, the equation is very simple — win against LSG and play Qualifier 1. A loss will send them into the Eliminator, where they will have only one chance to stay alive in the tournament.

RCB will play their final league match on May 27 and the fans will be hoping for a strong performance to secure the top-two position.
