Dmitry Bivol is now back in training camp, as he prepares for his long-awaited return to the ring in 2026.
The reigning Unified Light-Heavyweight World Champion has recovered from a recent injury setback, which forced him to take a short break to recover, but he is now back working towards his comeback fight.
Bivol has returned to his home of Kyrgyzstan alongside his team to begin training camp, as he looks to get back in the ring and defend his titles early this year.
BOXRAW joined Bivol and his team during these early stages of camp for an exclusive insight into his preparations, and these are the routines and methods the pound-for-pound great has been utilising in training for his comeback.
Shadow Boxing
A staple of every elite fighter’s training, Bivol has always used shadow boxing as a key component of camp, and that’s no different for his return camp.
With his trademark Soviet style, the reigning unified World Champion practises his form, technique and punch selection while staying light on his feet with brilliant balance.
Pad Work
Remaining light on his feet but maintaining his power in each punch, Bivol flows through his typically eye-catching pad work routine in camp.
During camp, Bivol has been going through rounds of pads with both his coaches and also training partners, specifically drilling various shots and implementing defence.

Heavy Bag
Developing his rhythm and the snap in his shots, while constantly moving on his toes, Bivol utilises proper heavy bag work ahead of his comeback fight.
His heavy bag work consists of his usual rounds, but he also implements sprints or intervals to constantly change the pace and aggression to simulate a fight scenario.

Mountain Runs
To build his leg strength and conditioning for a tough 12-round world title fight, Bivol has been running the steep mountains in his home of Kyrgyzstan.

Swimming
Bivol has gone through swimming routines during camp, which helps build his engine without the same impact that other forms of cardio have on his body, such as running.

Horse Riding
In a unique extra training routine, Bivol has used horse riding alongside his teammates during camp. This has been proven to help improve his core strength and stability, while also being an enjoyable pastime with his team during a tough camp.

Strength & Conditioning
Bivol has continued to engage in strength and conditioning processes during his recent training, building punch power and developing explosiveness from his upper and lower body.
