How much will Rishabh Pant get from his 27 crore signing? Here’s the answer to the question

The great Rishabh Pant became an all-time record in the longest player ever priced in IPL after Lucknow Super Giants auctioned extraordinary amounts of Rs 27 crore for the flamboyant India wicketkeeper-batter during the mega auction on Sunday.

Delhi Capitals used the Right To Match to buy back Pant at Rs 20.75 crore, but LSG raised the bid to Rs 27 crore, and the former decided against matching that amount.

Pant made it possible against all odds to come back to the international stage; it was really a life-threatening car accident in 2022, and he is all set to lead his new IPL team in the 2025 edition, which is commencing March 14.

But know how much Pant will give as tax from Rs 27 crore and what would be net remaining with him. Also, if he gets injured either during or before the tournament, then how much might he suffer the loss?

In the IPL 2025 auction, bidding was done for players, and they were placed under a three-year contract by the franchise team. So, the amount that came into the franchise goes as salary against that period. For example, Lucknow bought Rishabh Pant for Rs 27 crore, but this amount would be over the full three seasons. Further, the Indian government will deduct Rs 8.1 crore as tax from his total contract value. Pant thus, in turn, would get to net salary Rs 18.9 crore over this period from IPL team.

In the event of an IPL injury to Rishabh Pant, he will be paid in full. However, if an injury occurs before the tournament shell such that it will prevent him from participating, then the franchise has the right to replace him with another player. In case it is an injury before the tournament, there is no foreign player’s compensation. An Indian player who is injured during a series and has been with Team India will be entitled to the whole salary during the IPL season as per the BCCI’s assurance.

Even if an Indian or foreign player is contracted with an IPL franchise for the entire tournament but does not play even a single match, he still gets his full contracted salary.

If a player pulls out of the tournament for personal reasons, the amount paid will be prorated by the number of matches played. Also, should a player get injured in the course of the tournament, the franchise is supposed to pay the entire amount he has contracted for.
