How Sky Moore Helps Jordan Love, Matthew Golden In Packers’ Offense

When the Packers signed Skyy Moore this offseason, the assumption was that he would be an immediate upgrade in a return game that desperately needed an infusion of consistency and competence.

And, while that’s likely to be the case and Moore’s most likely path to seeing the field and a meaningful role, the 25-year-old may have a path to meaningfully contributing on offense for quarterback Jordan Love and making the most of the space created by vertical threat Matthew Golden.

What to expect from Skyy Moore in a Packers uniform

Green Bay Packers head coach Matt Lafleur runs on to the field before their wild card playoff game Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois. The Chicago Bears beat the Green Bay Packers 31-27.

Last season in San Francisco, while contributing primarily on special teams, Moore caught just eight passes but for 87 yards, which underscores his ability to stretch the field when called upon.

Over at USA TODAY’s PackersWire, Zach Kruse argues that the combination of Moore’s ability after the catch and his blocking prowess could prove invaluable in head coach Matt LaFleur’s system.

“While Moore ended up as a bust as a receiver in Kansas City, don’t rule out him playing a role for LaFleur in Green Bay,” Kruse writes for PackersWire. “Moore played over 100 snaps on offense for the 49ers in 2025, and his tape shows a receiver with an appetite and willingness to block in the run game and the vision to create as a gadget option. On one explosive run, Moore sought out and blocked the single-high safety — creating at least five extra yards downfield for the running back. On another, he dug out the backside defensive back, creating a cutback lane for another big run. Against the Chicago Bears late in the season, Moore turned an end-around into an explosive run when he followed his blocking and used his vision as a returner to find the opening.

“For LaFleur, run blocking and gadget potential can get you on the field as a wide receiver. Moore might open and start training camp as the sixth receiver on the depth chart, but his expected job as a returner should ensure he’s on the gameday 48-man roster, and LaFleur has consistently shown a willingness to use any and all receivers in specific roles week to week — especially if they can be relied upon to block in the run game. Moore is not only coming from a Shanahan system, but he showed last season that he’s willing to do some of the dirty work to get on the field. In the Shanahan/LaFleur offenses, if you can carve out a role as a blocker for LaFleur, you’ll also eventually see a target or two off play-action looks.”

Ultimately, Moore’s path in Green Bay will likely be paved by his ability to show he can be a willing and reliable blocker, which LaFleur covets, and the Packers’ system demands.

If he can pair that physical edge with his proven vision as a returner, he won’t just be a special teams specialist … he’ll be the versatile chess piece that keeps the Packers’ ground game explosive and the play-action passing windows wide open.
