Myles Borne is finally opening up about his relationship with Stephanie Vaquer — and the story behind it isn’t what you’d expect.
After months of speculation and a social media exchange that confirmed they were together, Borne has now shared how things actually started. Speaking to Denise Salcedo, he revealed that despite the confidence fans might expect, he initially couldn’t even bring himself to talk to Vaquer. Borne explained that the connection was there from the start — but so were the nerves. Every time they crossed paths backstage, he’d avoid the moment instead of taking his shot.
“You know, honestly, when we first saw each other, we noticed. And then, for the first couple of weeks, we knew we liked each other, but I would try to build up the courage to talk to her.”
He then admitted just how far he went to avoid those interactions — even if it meant walking away from something as basic as food. That moment didn’t just end the interaction — it ended his meal plans as well.
“And as soon as we crossed paths, I’d go the opposite direction—I promise, every time. And she noticed it. And I remember one time we were backstage, and I was coming in through one door to go to catering, and she was coming through another door, and as our paths intersected, I turned back around and walked out. I didn’t even eat. I said, ‘Nope, I’m not eating now. I’m just going to be hungry,’ because I was still trying to figure out what I wanted to say to her.”
Eventually, the dynamic flipped — and Vaquer took matters into her own hands, breaking the ice and setting things in motion. From that point on, Borne knew he couldn’t avoid it anymore — and once they connected, things clicked immediately.
“Um, yeah, eventually she gave me no choice. She messaged me and said, ‘Hey, let’s hang out. Let’s go have dinner.’ And, you know, we did. That’s when I was like, okay, now I have no choice. I have to just build up the courage and talk to her. And it was great. It was like the connection from the first day—she’s just a genuinely amazing person, and I’m lucky, you know.”
He even acknowledged the reaction from others, joking about the attention their relationship has gotten while making it clear he’s embracing every part of his life right now.
“So, yeah, all the guys out there who are so mad—hey, I get it. I get it. But like I said, I want to win in every aspect in life, and that’s one of the aspects.”
What started as months of speculation and a simple social media hint has now turned into a full story straight from Borne himself — and it paints a very different picture than the confident persona fans see on screen. Behind it all was hesitation, missed chances, and a moment that could’ve easily never happened — until Vaquer stepped in and changed everything.
