$10,000 mandatory fine to any player who refuses post match handshake for political reasons. Repeat offenders face 6 month bans. The BS must be stopped.
Tennis announcer and post match interviewer Andrew Krasny said a few years ago at the WTA Guadalajara tournament that fans come to watch tennis to get away from politics. He said it to Ons Jabeur to mute her post match interview statement about donating funds to help Palestine to survive the brutal genocide Israel was inflicting on them.
But Krasny has not take any measures to correct or stop the political nonsense about flag bans and post match handshake refusals by Ukrainian players against Russian players. Not one peep about it from the hypocrite Krasny, who is an excellent announcer and interviewer at several professional tournaments including Indian Wells, Miami Open and US Open.
The post match handshake is a tradition and automatic custom of the sport and it must be enforced. To allow certain players to ignore this tradition sends a very bad message to tennis fans. Tennis must be better and stand above political BS.
Israeli players have played with Germans. Pakistanis have played with Indians. Chinese have played with Japanese. Blacks and white have made some sensational team in doubles.
Post match handshakes must be strictly enforced and by doing so it will make the sport stronger and more respected.
