During last night’s episode of WWE RAW, it was announced that the reigning WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion, AJ Lee, will defend her title against Becky Lynch at the two-night Premium Live Event (PLE) scheduled for next month, WrestleMania 42.
The match announcement occurred during an in-ring promo segment. Lynch entered the ring to take shots at Lee, criticizing her for being away from WWE for so long. She noted that she had not received the same praise upon her return after a 10-month absence for family reasons. Lynch emphasized how, upon her return, she made the Women’s Intercontinental Championship the most important and interesting title in all of wrestling, yet now she found herself watching Lee hold the title.
Lee then made her way to the ring, prompting Lynch to run into the crowd. Standing on the commentary table, Lee declared that she had “walked Lynch like a dog.” She continued, stating that if she needed to embarrass Lynch again to get her out of her life, she would do so. Lee ultimately agreed to defend her title against Lynch at WrestleMania 42.
WWE WrestleMania 42 will take place on Saturday, April 18, and Sunday, April 19, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will air live on ESPN Unlimited in the U.S. and on Netflix internationally.
