You never know what will come out of The Nature Boy Ric Flair’s mouth. However, Slick Ric’s latest allegations have people going, “Hm?” The first-ever 2-time WWE Hall of Fame inductee recently spoke about fellow 2-time Hall of Fame inductee, Hulk Hogan’s death. Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan remained close friends throughout their careers, and all the way up until The Immortal Hulk Hogan’s death. In fact, Ric Flair revealed that the two spoke the night before Hulk Hogan died. Now, the 16-time World Champ is spilling about what really killed Hulk Hogan.
Mystery Surrounding Hulk Hogan’s Death
The wrestling world was stunned to learn that Hulk Hogan passed away on July 25, 2025. Terry “Hulk Hogan” Bollea’s cause of death was determined to be an acute myocardial infarction, meaning the former WWE World Champion had a heart attack.
When autopsy results came back, the world also found out that Hulk Hogan had chronic lymphocytic leukemia. This finding shocked the world, including his estranged daughter, Brooke Hogan.
Brooke Hogan joined Hulk Hogan’s former best friend, Bubba the Love Sponge’s, radio show to discuss her father’s death. In the interview, she expressed uncertainty surrounding Hulk Hogan’s death.
E! News even pointed out that she shared some conspiracy-related news stories on her IG Stories with captions like, “Thank you.”
These stories surrounded how questionable it was that Hulk Hogan was ordered to be cremated before an autopsy, and how Brooke was willing to pay for the autopsy to find out the truth.
Now that the dust has settled, more information about Hulk Hogan’s death might be coming to light. His good friend, Ric Flair, weighed in on the day Hulk Hogan died.
Ric Flair Claims Hulk Hogan Died from Street Drugs
Professional wrestling is a grueling career that takes a toll on a person’s body. Case in point, Hulk Hogan has had many surgeries on his back, and these procedures may have played a pivotal role in the Real American’s untimely demise.
Ric Flair joined Doubl3 Coverage for an interview, and The Nature Boy shared some shocking details about Hulk Hogan’s final days. The Hulkster’s good friend claimed that the late-WCW World Champion was taking street drugs to deal with pain.
Ric Flair divulged,
“I talked to him the day before he died. I shouldn’t say this, but what killed him was street drugs.
When the doctor wouldn’t prescribe anymore, he was in so much pain. Then he had a neck surgery and got infected.
So, back in the hospital. Imagine ten back surgeries, two knees, two hips, all this.
And then when the doctor would not prescribe any more pain medicine…They just couldn’t do it. All due conscience, right?
So, they went and got the drugs off the street. His body just said, ‘You know what? Bingo! I can’t do it anymore.’”
Ric Flair has seen his fair share of tragedies in the wrestling industry, including in his own family. He was then asked why Hulk had to deal with so much pain. Ric Flair’s answer pointed a finger at the business.
Ric Flair Claims Hulk Hogan’s Poor Health Was Due to His Finishing Move
Hulk Hogan wrestled 2,127 matches during his illustrious career. The 11-time World Champion captured many WCW and WWE World Titles using his famous 1-2 combo: The Big Boot and Leg Drop.
While today’s finishing moves seem more devastating than the Leg Drop, the Leg Drop is no joke to the person performing it. This was especially true in the case of Hulk Hogan, who would try to get some height before crashing the leg down across his opponent.
Ric Flair believes Hulk Hogan’s Leg Drop ultimately contributed to the icon’s death, sharing,
“You know what caused the back surgeries? Dropping the leg.
Dropping the leg jabbed his bones. That’s what did it.”
Wrestling mats are pretty unforgiving. They are essentially plywood covered in carpeting, then a canvas. So, for three decades, Hulk Hogan would land with the base of his spine hitting pine.
The cumulative effect of these Leg Drops proved too much for The Hulkster. Not only did they lead to his career ending, but they possibly contributed to his passing away.
Ric Flair has also dealt with many health problems over the last few years. The Nature Boy revealed his cancer diagnosis earlier this year. A couple of weeks ago, Ric Flair left an AEW Dynamite taping just an hour before the show after he sustained an injury. It remains to be seen what’s next for Slick Ric.
Hulk Hogan’s Funeral Details
Hulk Hogan’s death shook the wrestling world, leading to a week-long tribute on all WWE programs. As one would imagine, the sports entertainment icon’s memorial service was quite the star-studded spectacle. However, it also came with a ton of drama.
First, Riddle confirmed that he ran into Shane McMahon at the event. The two exchanged unpleasantries, prompting Riddle to tell Shane-O-Mac to “go f***himself.” From there, Hulk Hogan’s ex-wife got into an altercation with Brutus Beefcake’s wife. It was alleged that Missy and Brutus Beefcake were banned from returning to the ceremony after they went outside to cool off.
