I am hurt Laryea Kingston never played at the World Cup – Eric Edem Agbana – Ghana Latest Football News, Live Scores, Results

Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Eric Edem Agbana, has expressed disappointment over the absence of former Laryea Kingston at the FIFA World Cup, saying the ex-midfielder deserved to feature after playing a crucial role during Ghana’s qualification campaigns.

Kingston was instrumental for the Ghana national football team during the qualifying stages for both the 2006 FIFA World Cup and the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Despite his influence in helping Ghana secure qualification, the midfielder did not make an appearance at either tournament.

Speaking to Citi Sports, Agbana described Kingston’s absence as one of the major regrets he holds about Ghana’s World Cup history.

“One of my regrets from the 2006 and 2010 World Cups is that Laryea Kingston did not get the chance to play,” he told Citi Sports.

“He fought very hard during qualification, and I believe he should have been included, even with the challenges he faced,” Agbana added.

Agbana also weighed in on the issue of national team commitment, insisting that loyalty to the country should be an important consideration when selecting players.

“Personally, I don’t support players who rejected Ghana in the past but later want to come back when things are going well. That is my personal view,” he added.

Kingston was widely regarded as one of Ghana’s most gifted midfielders in the mid-2000s. During his international career, he earned 41 caps for the Black Stars and scored six goals.
