After 15 years of racing, back-to-back, year after year against the world’s best, Laurie Greenland wanted something else. It’s hard to ask for more, when you’re supported as a pro racer on the top teams. But what if that life’s not what you want at all? How would you know, unless you try something else?
“I’ve got a real desire to experience a life outside of racing,” Greenland says in the introduction to A Different Line, his new short film with Ollie Hamilton-Fox. The former Syndicate racer is talking about the quiet doubts and less-public challenges that built up over the last few seasons of World Cup competition. Those doubts led Greenland to announce a hiatus from competing at the end of 2025. Why now, when he’s still among the world’s best? Simple.
“I don’t want it to be too late.”
Find out more about what went into that striking decision, and what Greenland’s been up to since the shock announcement in A Different Line.
