Indian wrist spinner Ravi Bishnoi is excited to prove his captain’s faith in him by bowling at crucial moments in T20 international matches. Bishnoi was named Player of the Match in the second T20I against Sri Lanka, where he took three wickets for 26 runs in four overs. The 23-year-old helped India regain momentum in the game by dismissing Pathum Nissanka, who had scored 32 runs off 24 balls in the first T20I.
Bishnoi managed to dismiss Dasun Shanaka and Wanindu Hasaranga with back-to-back deliveries, causing a collapse for Sri Lanka in the final overs. Thanks to his excellent performance, Sri Lanka could only score 161/9 in their 20 overs. After India’s decisive victory by seven wickets, Bishnoi shared his strategy of bowling wrong’uns against left-handed batters. The wrist spinner also said that he enjoys bowling in the final overs and living up to his captain’s trust.
“The pitch today was a bit different from yesterday. It was spinning more. In the first innings today, it was good for spin bowlers. The speed I bowl at is right for me. I follow my plans. I really enjoy bowling the wrong ones. The techniques that work for me, I use them, and the wrong ones work well against left-handed batters. It’s a good feeling to have the responsibility to bowl at the end of the game, because it shows that the team management and captain trust me. I’m happy to take on that responsibility,” Bishnoi said after the game.
In the 31 Twenty20 International matches he has played, Bishnoi has taken 46 wickets with an average of 18.95 and an economy rate of 7.22. He recently had the best performance of his career, taking 4 wickets for 13 runs in the first Twenty20 match against Zimbabwe. India is leading the series 2-0 and is looking to win all three matches. They will play the last Twenty20 match on Tuesday, July 30 at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele.
