MS Dhoni recently opened up on his future in the Indian Premier League amid various speculations of retirement. He revealed that he will take a call regarding the 19th edition of the marquee tournament after the current one concludes.
The former Chennai Super Kings skipper also revealed that his body’s functionality will have the final say on the aforementioned decision.
“I’m still playing the IPL and kept it very simple. I take it one year at a time. I’m 43, so by the time I finished this July, I’ll be 44. So, I have then 10 months to decide if I want to play one more year or not. And it’s not me deciding, you know, it’s the body that tells you whether you can or cannot. So, one year at a time, fully focused on what needs to be done right now. And after that, we’ll see. It’s a time of 8-10 months,” shared Dhoni in a conversation on a podcast with Raj Shamani.
The cricketing luminary was recently in action during CSK’s 25-run loss to Delhi Capitals on Saturday, April 5. He remained unbeaten on 30* off 26 deliveries. This was his joint-highest score in IPL 2025. He recently became the franchise’s leading run-getter, overtaking Suresh Raina to top the list.
