“I just said it…”Rohit Sharma drops a bombshell about his retirement plans

Indian cricket team captain, Rohit Sharma, dismissed any rumors about retiring on Sunday, July 14, stating that fans can expect to see him on the field for some time yet. Rohit led India to victory in the T20 World Cup 2024, which took place in the West Indies and the USA in June, and was the second top scorer in the competition.

After the win, there were speculations that Rohit might retire from T20 international cricket for India, as he believed it was the perfect moment to leave the game on a high note. However, during an event in Dallas on Sunday, when asked again about his retirement plans, Rohit clarified that he doesn’t plan too far ahead but feels he still has plenty of energy and skill left to contribute to the team.

“I just said it. I don’t do that far ahead. So clearly, you will be seeing me play for a while,” said Rohit at the event.

Rohit’s speech at the event in Dallas was met with loud cheers from the audience, who were excited to hear from the Indian cricket team captain. Rohit returned to the USA to open a new cricket academy called krickingdom.

Rohit has consistently avoided discussing retirement in the past. Just a few months ago, he mentioned that he plans to keep playing for several more years and aims to win both the World Test Championship (WTC) and the World Cup with India.

“I haven’t considered retirement yet. Life can be unpredictable, but I’m still playing well right now, so I think I’ll keep going for a few more years. I really want to win the World Cup, and there’s a WTC final in 2025, hopefully, India will be there,” Rohit explained.

Rohit will now focus on one-day internationals (ODIs) and Test matches, as there are important events coming up in the next few months. The Indian team captain might be given a break for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka.
