Washington Sundar, India’s Spin bowling all rounder says he’s concentrating on putting in his very best for the team instead of aiming at Jadeja’s position as an all-rounder that is currently empty. Jadeja vacated it following his retirement from cricket upon leading India to victory at T20 World Cup 2024, hence throwing it wide open.
“On Wednesday, Sundar, who was awarded Player of the Match in the 3rd T20I against Zimbabwe, was quizzed concerning this. His answer was that being centered around his game for India and he gives 100%. He disclosed that in every training session and each game, he aimed at giving his best”
“I must excel in areas I am knowledgeable and skilled, especially in preparing myself. Every day requires me to work as hard as possible. “That is a line that I have not crossed,” Washington declared during his conversation with the media after the game on whether he was prepared to take over from Ravindra Jadeja in his absence “.
Sundar was confident of his batting and bowling prowess despite losing his spot to Nitish Kumar Reddy in the SRH XI for this year’s Indian Premier League season. Those skills with bat and ball are what made him among the wicket-takers today when he bowled off-spinners which went slowly and fetched assistance from the surface, picking up 3 for just 15 runs in four overs bowled by him as a bowler.
“It (preparing well) keeps me in the present and obviously I am very confident as well (about his skills). It’s a great opportunity for me to play for India, and I am blessed with it,” he added.
“I need to keep my job consistently and keep preparing and keep getting better. That way everything will be taken care of,” Sundar concluded on the matter.
On July 10th 2013 at Harare Sports Club, Harare the Indias finished third T20I match with a 23 run defeat against Zimbabwe. Out 20 overs innings, however India batted first and set a reasonable target after scoring 182/4 with their skipper playing very well scoring 66 runs from 49 deliveries. Unfortunately, Zimbabwe bowled out having managed to score only 159/6 in these overs.
