RCB and Karnataka cricketer Vijaykumar Vyshak has talked about the influence of training with Virat Kohli on his game. Vyshak played with Kohli for RCB in the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024). Vyshak made his IPL debut in 2023 and took nine wickets in seven matches.
He continued to play for the team in the latest season and discussed his experience of training with the famous Indian batsman Virat Kohli. The young fast bowler shared that he was deeply impressed by Kohli’s strong work ethic, methodical approach, and consistency, as the star batsman performed every task with great accuracy.
“Training with Virat Kohli can really affect how you play. Last season, I watched him closely and noticed things like his dedication, his method, and how steady he is. Whether it’s his diet or his practice schedule, he does everything carefully. It’s impressive how sure he feels before each game, and now I try to feel the same way when I play,” Vyshak said in an interview with Hindustan Times.
The 27-year-old player participated in four games in the IPL 2024 and took four wickets. He also talked about his experience in the T20 tournament and mentioned how Mohammed Siraj supported him.
“In my first game for RCB, I did well, but then I let 60 runs happen in the next game. Siraj said to me, ‘This is how the game is, and this is the challenge at the top level.’ I want to remember this and share these insights whenever I can,” Vijaykumar added.
Vyshak has been doing exceptionally well in domestic cricket lately. In the 2024 Ranji Trophy, he played for Karnataka and did well with both batting and bowling. He scored 343 runs in 13 innings, averaging 31.18, and had a strike rate of 72.82, including one century and one fifty.
As a bowler, he was his team’s top wicket-taker, taking 39 wickets in 16 innings with an average of 23.61 and an economy rate of 3.29. Next, he will play for Gulbarga Mystics in the Maharaja Trophy Karnataka State Cricket Association T20 tournament.
