ICC bans this Srilankan cricketer for one year

The ICC has announced that Praveen Jayawickrama, a player from Sri Lanka, has been suspended from all forms of cricket for a period of one year, six months of which are under suspension following his admission of guilt for a breach of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code, which is the mother organization’s in a statement released on Wednesday. The allegations are in relation to the international cricket and the Lanka Premier League.

Jayawickrama has pleaded guilty to the breach of the following provision of the Code:

Article 2.4.7 – This Code shall also apply where a player obstructs or delays any investigation which the ACU may conduct by way of the concealment, alteration or destruction of any documents or other material information that is pertinent to that investigation and evidence or information that will assist in the proving of a breach of the policy relating to corruption in cricket

Consequent to the admission, Jayawickrama has also agreed to the imposition of a one year ineligibility period for which the ineligibility period has lifted the last six months.
