ICC, BCCI and PCB agree on Hybrid Model for 2025 Champions Trophy

ICC agrees to follow the Hybrid model for the 2025 Champions Trophy. Team India will plan in Dubai. The BCCI and ICC have accepted PCB’s demands for Hybrid formats until 2027.

Team India Will Play In Dubai

ICC 2025 Championship Trophy will follow the Hybrid Model. ICC has finalized the format, ensuring India will play all its matches in Dubai.

The decision came after multiple discussions in the Dubai Meeting. This consensus marks a strategic approach to address geopolitical challenges.

“It’s been agreed in principle by all parties that the 2025 Champions Trophy will be held in the UAE and Pakistan, with India playing its matches in Dubai. It’s a win-win situation for all stakeholders,” the ICC source told PTI.

To keep the cricket’s global spirit intact this decision had been finalized.

PCB’s Demand Accepted For Future Events

To finalise the deal, ICC accepted PCB’s request for a Hybrid model. Pakistan’s Cricket Board has demanded the Hybrid model in tournaments held in India until 2027.

“Cricket should win, that’s most important, but with respect for all. We are going to do what’s best for cricket. Whichever formula we go for, it would be on equal terms,” Pakistan Cricket Board head Mohsin Naqvi had stated after the last ICC meet.

For instance, during 2026’s Men’s T20 World Cup, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Pakistan will also play its matches in Sri Lanka.

“During the 2026 men’s T20 World Cup, Pakistan will play its matches in Sri Lanka. The compensation demanded by PCB for the Champions Trophy hybrid model is still under consideration,” the PTI source said.

Similarly, the Women’s World Cup 2025 will also accommodate Pakistan’s matches at neutral venues.

Champions Trophy Schedule to be announced soon

The announcement of the Champions Trophy Schedule has been delayed.

The surrounding confusion for the tournament was going on.

According to the agreement between the ICC and broadcasters, the schedule was supposed to be released at least 90 days in advance. But the deadline has already passed.

With the hybrid model now finalized, fans and broadcasters, including Star Sports, can expect the schedule to be announced soon.

Representatives from the channel were in Dubai to discuss the tournament’s operational details with  ICC Chairman Jay Shah.

However the meeting was postponed to Saturday, as per sources.
