The Indian cricket team will face South Africa in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 on June 29 at Kensington Oval, Barbados.
Preparations for this high-stakes match have begun, with the ICC inviting all board members of the participating teams in the T20 World Cup to watch the game.
As per reports, the ICC has also sent an invitation to the Pakistan Cricket Board chief, Mohsin Naqvi, to attend the match. Notably, Pakistan was eliminated in the group stage of the T20 World Cup 2024.
There are reports that the ICC will hold a meeting with BCCI chief Roger Binny and ICC chief Mohsin Naqvi there to discuss the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Here it is worth mentioning that Pakistan holds the hosting rights for the Champions Trophy 2025 and has been urging Team India to visit the country for this major ICC event.
Earlier, Pakistan was set to host the Asia Cup 2023. However, due to political tensions between India and Pakistan, the tournament was held in a hybrid model, with India playing all their matches, including the final, in Sri Lanka.
A similar situation is emerging for the Champions Trophy 2025, as India is reluctant to travel to Pakistan for the tournament.
On the other hand, Pakistan is firm this time, insisting they will not adopt the hybrid model and will host the entire tournament domestically. They want India to travel to Pakistan to participate in the event.
