ICC Men’s Test Team Rankings: New Zealand have just come up with a historic win against India in India after 36 long years and became the first team in the last few years to defeat India in India. The International Cricket Council have released the latest ICC Men’s Test Team Rankings after IND vs NZ 1st Test and here we are with the latest updates.
How often do we hear that India lost a home match? It happened quite a long time ago, and New Zealand have done it after so many years. Also, New Zealand defeated India in a home test 36 years ago, and they outclassed India.
The India vs New Zealand 1st Test started with Day 1 being washed away by rain. India won the toss and opted to bat first. New Zealand wrapped up Indian innings for just 46 runs and that became the lowest total of Indian team in India.
New Zealand didn’t let go of the advantage and scored over 400 runs in their first Innings. India then batted the way they are known to bat and recovered the deficit but the second new ball wrote the story of their second collapse in the same test. India managed to get a lead of 106 and New Zealand covered it with just losing two wickets.
Along with New Zealand, Pakistan won a home test after 1300+ days defeating England.
In the latest Rankings update, India is ranked second with a rating of 121. Australia is at the top of the table with a 124 rating in 30 matches.
England is ranked third with 108 ratings and South Africa follows them with 104 ratings. New Zealand are ranked sixth with 89 ratings in 25 matches played and Pakistan are ranked 8th with 76 rating points.
