ICC takes strong action against Mohammad Rizwan & Pakistan after 0-3 sweep in NZ ODIs

Pakistan have been fined for the third time in a row for the slow over rate in the ODIs. The Mohammad Rizwan-led side have been fined five percent of their match fee owing to a slow over-rate in the third ODI against New Zealand.

The third ODI between New Zealand and Pakistan took place at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. It was a terrible outing for the Mohammad Rizwan-led side as they suffered a disappointing 43-run loss to face the third straight defeat in the series.

Pakistan breached Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. This is related to minimum over-rate offences and the players are fined five percent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time.

Pakistan were one over short of the stipulated target, and following that, Jeff Crowe of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanction. While on-field, umpires Chris Brown and Paul Reiffel, along with third umpire Michael Gough and fourth umpire Wayne Knights, leveled the charge.

Pakistan skipper Mohammad Rizwan pled guilty to the offence, and hence, there wasn’t a need for an official hearing.
