India‘s star all-rounder Deepti Sharma has scaled new heights in the ICC Women’s ODI Bowler Rankings, reaching a career-best second place due to her consistent performances in the ongoing ODI series against New Zealand.

Deepti Sharma achieves career-best ranking

Sharma’s control with the ball has been exceptional, taking six wickets in three matches at an impressive economy rate under around 3, the best among bowlers in the series. Her disciplined bowling, combined with her ability to keep runs in check, has significantly boosted her ranking, placing her closer to England’s Sophie Ecclestone, the current top-ranked ODI bowler. In the all-rounder rankings, Deepti has moved up to fourth after her impactful 41-run knock paired with a tidy one for 35 in the first ODI, underscoring her value as a versatile asset for India.

Nat Sciver-Brunt: Dominating the Women’s ODI batting rankings

In the latest ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings, England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt continues to assert her dominance, holding the top position with a rating of 760. Sciver-Brunt achieved her career-best rating of 807 during a match against Sri Lanka in Leicester in 2023. Following closely is South Africa‘s Laura Wolvaardt, who ranks second with a rating of 756, matching her career-high, which she set against India in Bangalore in 2024. Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu rounds out the top three with a rating of 733, having previously reached a career-best of 773 during a match against South Africa in Potchefstroom in 2024. The competition among these elite players showcases the high caliber of women’s cricket today.

Sophie Devine and Amelia Kerr shine for New Zealand

New Zealand’s captain Sophie Devine has also seen her rankings surge, reaching a personal best of eighth in the ODI Batter Rankings. Devine’s impressive 79-run innings in the second ODI showcased her batting prowess, and her three-wicket haul for just 27 runs further elevated her status in the rankings.

Her all-round performance has pushed her to seventh in the all-rounder rankings and 30th in bowling, underscoring her critical role for New Zealand. Teammate Amelia Kerr, despite being sidelined after an early injury in the series, advanced to 11th and 13th in the batting and bowling rankings, respectively. Kerr’s all-round showing in the series opener, scoring an unbeaten 25 alongside her four-wicket haul for 42, further solidifies her impact on the New Zealand squad.

Other ranking advancements across Teams

The latest ICC rankings update saw notable shifts for players across teams. New Zealand’s Suzie Bates climbed to 15th in the batter rankings, while Maddy Green rose to 18th, reflecting their strong form in recent ODIs. On the Indian side, Jemimah Rodrigues jumped three spots to reach 30th, and Shafali Verma improved her ranking to 54th, adding depth to India’s batting lineup. In the bowling category, Lea Tahuhu of New Zealand moved up to 12th, proving her consistency and impact in restricting opposition.

Zimbabwean players also made significant strides following their 3-2 series win over the USA, with Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano reaching a career-high 21st in the batter rankings. Josephine Nkomo’s sharp bowling performances pushed her up 13 spots to 32nd in the bowling rankings. On the USA team, Disha Dhingra and Sindhu Sriharsha also progressed, with Dhingra rising 22 places to 55th and Sriharsha moving up 42 places to 57th, demonstrating their growing prowess on the international stage.
