Ignacio Mendy Shining Bright for Benetton

Ignacio Mendy is shining bright for Benetton. The Argentine winger looks to be playing his way into amassing further caps in 2026. Weeks after featuring Felipe Contepomi’s first training camp for the year, Mendy was a try-scorer for Benetton against the Ospreys in the United Rugby Championship (URC).

Benetton went on to win the match 31-19, doing so by claiming a bonus point. The Lyon-bound Pumas prop, Thomas Gallo also started for Benetton. He was the victim of foul play by the Ospreys in the match.

Kiki Mendy is under contract with Benetton until mid-2027. He joined the Italian side from Super Rugby Americas (SRA) in 2022. So far this season he has made 13 appearances for Benetton and has scored 4 tries.

He was one of three wingers on Contepomi’s roster that recently trained in London. He was joined by Mateo Carreras (Bayonne) and Rodrigo Isgró (Harlequins). Of note is that Bautista Delguy (Clermont) was absent. In terms of selection tendencies, the trio were ahead of Mendy in 2025.

Mendy earned one cap in the Rugby Championship and started in the win over the British & Irish Lions in June, 2024.
