Gautam Gambhir has begun his tenure as India’s new head coach, and with that the Me In Blue have started their preparation for the 3-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. The arrival of India’s T20 squad in Colombo was on Monday. Now, a day later, the team has started with their training sessions under Gambhir’s guidance.
Gambhir led the charge in training sessions and was seen carrying a bag with the logo of the Kolkata Knight riders. The broadcasters for the India tour of Sri Lanka shared a video on social media, which was of the arrival of Team India for their training session. In that video, fans could not help but notice Gambhir with the KKR bag. This shows his special bonding with the IPL franchise.
Gambhir is a key figure in KKR’s history in IPL as he has led the franchise to two IPL titles as captain and then later returned as a mentor this year to guide them to their third trophy. His time as a mentor at KKR has now turned out to be as an audition for him for a much bigger job in cricket. When Rahul Dravid announced that he would not continue his job as the head coach, Gambhir had automatically become the preference to take over the role of head coach.
