In Flanders Fields, Catalunya stage 7

“It’s a Classic that I’ve wanted to win for many years, but never really had the legs at the end. Everything came together today and I was able to take the victory.

With Mathieu in the front, it was an ideal situation for our team. It was already quite some kilometres before the final and he didn’t have the best legs because of Friday, but it you can still ride away with two in the end, then his legs weren’t too bad.”

The Australian neo-pro, Brady Gilmore (NSN) sprinted to an unforgettable WorldTour win the final day of the Volta a Catalunya in Barcelona, the home city of the team’s title sponsor, with NSN co-founder Andres Iniesta watching in the team car. Jonas Vingegaard secures the overall general classification.

“It’s a super hard climb, but it’s more one for the punchy riders. I had a good feeling in the legs from the beginning of the stage. I fought until the end, and I never gave up.

I thought that if there could be a small group over the top and I could be there, I’d have a chance. From watching the previous years, I knew when exactly to open my sprint up. I’ve been thinking about winning here every day, and to finally win a WorldTour race, it feels amazing.”
