In anticipation of India’s T20 cricket world cup team’s victory parade in south Mumbai on Thursday evening, Churchgate and other nearby railway stations have seen an increase in security, according to the Western Railway (WR).
For effective crowd control, additional security measures have been implemented at the Churchgate, Marine Lines, and Charni Road stations, the WR stated on X.
Thousands of commuters from south Mumbai would be returning to their homes in the northern suburbs during the evening rush hour, coinciding with the Indian team’s victory parade in an open bus from Marine Drive to Wankhede Stadium.
“Additional Ticket Checking staff have also been deployed at the stations and additional UTS windows at Churchgate will remain operational till midnight,” Western Railway stated.
As people started to arrive in south Mumbai to watch the victory parade and get a look at the cricket team, the crowds at Churchgate and other train stations started to grow in the afternoon, according to officials.
