Indian leg-spinner Varun Chakravarthy’s career-best score of 5 for 17 went to waste as India had to face a three-wicket loss to South Africa during the 2nd T20I.
The explosive performance by Varun helped India take South Africa to 66 for 6 as they were chasing the score of 125.
It was Tristan Stubbs (47) and Gerald Coetzee (19) who helped the hosts make a comeback and completed the score in just 19 overs, which put an end to India’s streak of winning 11 matches.
Indian team was spotted struggling with the bat earlier on in the game, as they scored just 124 runs for 6 wickets. They lost initial three wickets in quick succession as they were reduced to 15/3 within 4 overs.
It was Axar Patel (27) who somewhat kept the innings alive for India, as he made a partnership with Tilak Varma (20) and Hardik Pandya (39). Even though the team witnessed a failure in the top-order, Pandya helped the team make a comeback and put a decent score on the board.
Brief Score:
India: 124 for 6 in 20 overs
South Africa: 128 for 7 in 19 overs
